Lagos Assembly to Intervene in Blackout in Badagry, Others

  Lagos State House of Assembly has decried the lack power supply to communities within the Badagry Constituency One as well as other parts of the State. The Speaker of the House, Chief Mudashiru Obasa, directed the Assembly’s Committee on Energy and Mineral Resources to investigate the issue surrounding the power outage and report back in one week. The decision of the Speaker followed a ‘Matter of Urgent Public Importance’ raised by Hon. Bonu Solomon (Badagry 1) during plenary. Bonu stated that the communities had experienced power outages for many years with negative effects on the economic activities of the people. The Senate Committee Chairman, made the remarks during an oversight function and on-the-spot assessment of facilities and operations on the Lagos-Ibadan Standard Guage Rail System   The Senate Committee, which embarked on the inspection of the Lagos-Ibadan Standard Rail Guage System, started its inspection from the Ticketing section and departure hall of the Mobolaji Johnson Train Station in Ebute-meta, where they observed the daily train operations. Yoruba Art and Culture in Focus as Lagos Opens J Randle Museum For Public Use

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has officially declared the museum in the J Randle Centre for Yoruba Heritage and Culture in Onikan open for public use. The museum, which exhibits historical, artistic and cultural artifacts of the Yoruba, is a key component of the Centre, which was commissioned last year.  Governor Sanwo-Olu also appoints Mr. Qudus Onikeku as the Director of the Centre. Speaking at an interactive session with creative stakeholders at J. Randle Centre Onikan Lagos, the Governor said that the state remains the centerpiece of tourism and has the potential for Music, Film, Art and Culture in Africa. Mr. Adegboyega Akosile, the Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is among few Nigerians to be honoured tomorrow, Monday, with the University of Ilorin Alumni Award. According to a letter dated October 10, 2024, and signed by the National Social Secretary, University of Ilorin Alumni Association, Abdullateef Hussain, the award is to be bestowed on Akosile for demonstrating exceptional leadership, innovation, and service to communities. Stakeholders Praise Lagos Assembly’s Move to Legalize Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy

  The Lagos State Government has expressed the confidence that the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy will contribute to bridging the leadership deficit in the state and Nigeria in general. This view was echoed at a public hearing on a bill to establish the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy to provide a platform for the development and nurturing of young persons for leadership purposes in Lagos State and for connected purposes at the Lagos State Assembly, Alausa, Ikeja. The Chairman of the Committee on Education (Tertiary Institutions) Hon. Owolabi Ajani said the bill would give legal backing to the Academy and ensured its sustainability. “It aims to give young people the ability to learn from all facets of leaders from all across the state; not even just the state but in other parts or Nigeria as well.
