WOWICAN Plans 50,000 Women Prayer Warriors for Nigeria; Celebrates 30th Anniversary

The Women Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria, WOWICAN, is bringing together 50,000 women to pray for Nigeria.

It is part of WOWICAN’s weeklong activities marking its 30th anniversary and to help the country find lasting solutions to its problems.

The Chairperson of WOWICAN Lagos State Chapter, Prophetess Stella Okoroafor, stated this at a news briefing on the 30th anniversary of WOWICAN and the 13th Annual Residential Conference at the Chapel of Christ The Light, Alausa, Ikeja.

“WOWICAN Lagos State will be celebrating her 13th Annual Residential Conference and 30th Anniversary from Monday 16th to Sunday 22nd September, 2024 at The Apostolic Church LAWNA Territories Headquarters, Olorunda, Ketu, Lagos State, Nigeria.

“WOWICAN was founded in April 1994, under the coordinating leadership of Rev. Mrs Edith Iloh and some founding women. The vision and mission of the organization is centered on empowering women spiritually, socially and economically,” she said.

Prophetess Okoroafor said the call for prayer became necessary because it had become obvious that human solutions had failed and that divine intervention was needed to help the country and the world overcome their challenges.

She said the 30th anniversary with the theme, ‘Divine Intervention’ couldn’t have come at a better time because “Throughout the past years, the Nigerian economy and the whole world at large have experienced several setbacks in all aspects of our daily lives. With the economic downturn being experienced, the theme speaks directly to the need for all to come together in unity and prayers.

“As Christian women, we must endeavour to intercede with prayers and fasting for our dear country, asking God for forgiveness of our sins.”

Speaking further on the activities of the association’s anniversaries, Prophetess Okoroafor said WOWICAN had come up with a programme to train and encourage women to actively participate in politics from the grassroots.

“Getting involved in grassroots government and development initiatives for our women, children, and youths. This will better help them understand politics, elections, and policies put in place by the government.  Conducting and intensifying regular outreach programmes and sensitization for all. This is to ensure effective communication focused on nation building,” said Prophetess Okoroafor.

She added that the women had visited Modupe Cole Orphanage, Yaba with various gifts to help the inmates and also pray for them, urging other well-meaning Nigerians to always remember people in various care homes.
