Ojodu council chair pledges quality healthcare, commissions new secretariat, 3 PHCs
David Odunmbaku, the Ojodu Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Chairman on Tuesday assured residents of Ojodu that his admission will continue to deliver quality healthcare for the people as part of his HEYSRELOADED Agenda.
Odunmbaku gave the assurance while commissioning the remodelled council secretariat and three new Primary Health Centres, PHCs, at Powerline, Gbadamosi and Akiode areas of the council.
The new PHCs are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and boast of qualified medical personnel.
Speaking at the commissioning, Odunmbaku said his HEYSRELOADED Initiative makes health the first pillar of his administration noting that only a healthy workforce could produce a healthy society.
He described the commissioning as evidence that the local government, as the closest to the grassroots, could function and deliver dividends of democracy if resources are well managed
“The commissioning of these projects is a declaration that local government can work, that public resources can be managed responsibly, and that governance can produce measurable outcomes that improve the lives of ordinary citizens.
HEYS Reloaded is more than a policy framework. It is our social contract with the people of Ojodu LCDA. It reflects our belief that sustainable development must place people at the centre of governance.
The facilities we commission today represent institutional investments that will outlive administrations and serve generations.
The remodelled secretariat strengthens administrative efficiency. The Executive Office Building enhances strategic coordination, transparency and accessibility. The Primary Health Care Centres bring quality healthcare closer to residents and reinforce our commitment to universal access to essential services,” Odunmbaku said.
He added that his health initiatives are fully aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the THEMES+ development vision of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The chairman further said that since assuming his administration has recruited over 175 healthcare professionals, procured ambulances, improved staff welfare, institutionalised regular medical outreach programmes such as the See-A-Doctor Initiative in partnership with Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH while more than 1,200 minor surgical procedures have been successfully carried out in Gbadamosi PHC.
In education, Odunmbaku said his administration had also given out scholarships, distributed GCE and UTME forms, renovated classrooms, and rewarded outstanding teachers while over 5,600 pupils have benefited from artificial intelligence, robotics and machine learning.
Other achievements, according to Odunmbaku, include provision of interest-free loans to SMEs, food subsidy initiative, reconstruction of Slifatu Abioye road, the bridge linking Adeshina and Adeniyi Oke Streets, channelisation works connecting Murhi International to Alagbole, the ongoing development of the Oluwole Mini Stadium, the reconstruction of Eweobaja market and the construction of the Joint Task Force facility.
He assured the residents of his commitments to people-centred, development and long-term community impact projects.
He also commended President Bola Tinubu for providing national leadership and policy direction, and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his unwavering support for grassroots development.
“Our goal is clear: to make Ojodu LCDA a benchmark for grassroots governance in Nigeria and a reference point for how local governments can effectively contribute to national development.”
At the commissioning were party leaders, council executive members, heads of departments, religious leaders, traditional rulers and party faithful.
