FG, Stakeholders Chart Path for Low Cost Housing at PEWAN CONFAB.

By Abiola Peters  The Federal Government is set to unveil the National Social Housing Fund (NSHF) aimed at ensuring that Nigerians have access to decent and dignified accommodation. Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, said this  at the 2024 Annual Lecture and Awards of the Property and Environment Writers Association of Nigeria, PEWAN, with the theme:" Resolving the Financial and Regulatory Dilemma to Achieve Renewed Hope Agenda on Housing" held in Lagos. The Minister who was represented by the Director of Press and Public Relations in the Ministry,  Salisu Haiba, explained that the initiative is in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to ensure that all Nigerians, including the LOW AND NO INCOME, vulnerable and underprivileged groups have access to decent and dignified accommodation. The Minister of State for Education, Dr Suwaiba Ahmad says taking over ten million out-of-school children back to the classroom is a major task before President Bola Tinubu’s administration. The Minister stated this at the ongoing Basic Education in Nigeria Boot Camp Summit 2024 in Lagos. Addressing education stakeholders at the summit, Dr Ahmad noted that the renewed hope agenda on education by the present administration included addressing the problem of out-of-school children. Education Experts Chart Path to Ending Out-of-School Children Crisis

The Federal Government has called on education experts to come up with ideas to help the government improve basic education and address the problem of out-of-school children. The Minister of Education, Dr Olatunji Alausa, made the call in a message to the opening ceremony of this year’s Basic Education in Nigeria Boot Camp Summit in Lagos. The theme of the three-day summit is, “Improving Access to Inclusive Quality Education for all Children in Nigeria; Addressing the Challenges of Out-of-School Children.” Dr Alausa stressed the importance of the DOTS policy of the ministry in ensuring that every child of school age receives quality education. NGO Donates Chairs to Catholic Church in Abuja

In a gesture of kindness and generosity, the Open Hands Amazing Charitable Organization has donated sone chairs to the Catholic Church of the Archangels, Gaduwa/Durumi, Abuja. The donation, which is valued at over two million naira, is aimed at supporting the growth of the church and providing comfort to its members during services. According to the Founder of the organization, Dr. Magdalene Agada, the donation is part of her organization’s efforts to support the gospel of Jesus Christ and the growth of the church. Some stakeholders at the ongoing 5th edition of the Expros Diaspora Squash Championships has applauded players and coaches for consistently improving their skills. The 5th edition of the U-11, U-13 and U-16 championships was organised by the International Association of Ex Squash Pros in Diaspora. The tournament served off from Nov. 12 to Nov. 16 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium Surulere. Regina Ogunjimi, a former number one ranked female squash player in Nigeria, in the 1980's said that the level of play of players has been mind-blowing. "I am so proud of all the coaches.   Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has tasked residents of Banana Island to continue to abide by the environmental laws of the state, in order to curb the flooding menace which threatens residents mobility in the rainy season. Sanwo-Olu gave the charge at the inauguration of some projects undertaken by Banana Island Property Owners and Residents Association, Lagos (BIPORAL) on Saturday. The projects inaugurated are Banana Island Administrative Office, a recreational park , Banana Island Club House, a fire fighting truck, tennis courts and an astro turf five aside football pitch. Lagos Begins Park Accreditation and Digital Manifest System

  The Lagos State Government says it has  commenced an accreditation and digital manifest system for interstate parks in the state.   The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, who announced the initiative at a news briefing in Alausa, Ikeja, said the accreditation and manifest would ensure safety of passengers.  Mr Osiyemi said with the digital manifest and park accreditation system, the paper manifest would be phased out, and the data collected would help the state with planning, while first responders would have accurate data of passengers during emergencies.  Mr Osiyemi said the project was a public private partnership arrangement at no cost to the state government while ensuring safety of passengers.
